It is a time of reflection as we begin the New Year and what a year it was for us in 2019. We are delivering projects in more schools than ever before and have expanded our practitioner base to match the demand for projects, meaning that our wee corner of music-making is now bigger than ever. Noanie, our administrator, has been in post for over a year now and has become an expert in stringing guitars and repairing ukuleles! Katie and now Morag, project co-ordinator and now acting project co-ordinator have been busy with all things project and funding related, and we are delighted to have received funding from St James’s Place, The Big Lottery and The Robertson Trust.
October 2019 saw our first ever fundraising month which was a great success, we are learning about charitable fundraising all the time and we are so grateful to everyone who donated. We had our first ever Big Christmas Busk in Braehead shopping centre, which was a day filled with hilarity and tunes. The next one will have even more participants involved! There were some wonderful sharing sessions throughout the year, these occasions are always a roller-coaster of laughter to tears, and back again.
The participants are what make Hear My Music what it is, we can’t count the amount of amazing interactions, new communication skills, and musical successes that have happened throughout the year. We created so much music together throughout 2019 and I will leave you with a quote from a song written by a group at Glad Spectrum Music, ‘it’s my favourite thing!’
Happy New Year everyone!
